About Ridgewood Unplugged.

Jeff Sofka created Ridgewood Unplugged in 2004, inspired by a request to organize a concert to raise needed funds for upkeep of the Ridgewood Schoolhouse Museum.

The historic one-room schoolhouse was built in 1872, and has been the site of other school structures over the town’s history. The building required significant repairs, and Sofka suggested to that the Ridgewood Historical Society, who maintains and operate the building, allow local musicians to play inside to raise money and awareness for the beautiful structure.

The building’s acoustics inspired local musician and sound technician Geoff Keehn to join the team, and along with Sherwin Suss and Sheila Brogan representing the Historical Society, transformed an informal gathering of friends into a unique and exciting concert series now entering its 10th Season.

Over the past decade, hundreds of “bands” have performed in front of enthusiastic sold-out shows, thanks to the incredible local musical talent around Ridgewood, and the incredible sound system developed and operated by Keehn and Derek Vintscher. Volunteers have included Nancy Koontz, Karen Mabli, Irene Garcia, Beth Blair and so many more who help make this project possible.
